WHAT'S THIS YES MEANS YES BUSINESS?

Yes means Yes is about communication in relationships, something Project Respect™ is promoting to prevent sexualized violence among youth.

It can be confusing if you are not being verbally clear about what you want in a relationship.

When people make assumptions, they don’t get the whole story.

If a person doesn’t say anything, it doesn’t mean yes.

If a person wears something sexy, it doesn’t mean yes.

If a person has had sex with you before, it doesn’t mean yes.

If a person paid for dinner, it doesn’t mean yes…

ONLY YES MEANS YES

HEAR,

BE CLEAR,

Don't assume, just ask.

By being clear, you avoid assumptions. When you both understand each other by communicating your wants and needs verbally, you are showing respect.

"Project Respect™ puts everything on the table — then it’s really hard to have false expectations. When we have respect in our relationships, we’re less likely to be invaded in our beliefs and our boundaries. Respect is a positive thing"

Project Respect™ is an innovative, youth -driven initiative from the Victoria Women’s Sexual Assault Centre that aims to prevent sexualized violence among youth in a new way…

Project Respect™ is starting a rEvolution. It is encouraging us to bring respect into our relationships by communicating about sex. It is empowering us to respect ourselves by resisting societal messages that tell women to be sexually passive and men to be sexually aggressive.

Project Respect™ is for and by youth… It is youth talking to youth about love, sex and relationships… So … join the Respect rEvolution… We all deserve it…

RESPECT!
